GIFT TAGS & NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINES {TAMPA AREA PHOTOGRAPHER}

Hey Everyone.. happy new year..  I hope you all had a good Holiday season and that the new year is already going great for you.
 I have a slight lull.. (if you can call editing and ordering and sending out orders a lull.) with two or more shoots right around the corner.. but in between doing all that aforementioned stuff I have had to take down decorations and go through things.  One of the unspoken challenges for myself EVERY year is go through the Christmas decorations and get rid of stuff.  soooo - trying to stream line and actually do it this year.   Just so you know.. I have a hard time letting go of things especially sentimental stuff.
Also.. another unspoken challenge I have given myself for the first time is this - If I can't re-utilize or if I don't have a place in mind for it..  IT HAS TO GO!!!
So this blog is a little off the subject of photography but one of the last challenges for myself is to share more about me not just about the photography.  So occasionally I will do a different post similar to this one.
So that brings us to the title of this blog -  I LOVE gift tags.. but the last few years I have not been able to find any that I like that don't cost an arm and a leg.. so one of the SENTIMENTAL things that I have a hard time letting go of is all the beautiful Christmas cards I get from everyone..  case in point.. I found 10 years worth of Christmas cards in various boxes of decorations.. the pile was over a foot high.. I sat and looked at each and every one of them and had some great memories and thoughts of people that have drifted away.  And of course those that I see regularly or at least see now on FB. (one of the reasons I love fb) So I struggled with throwing these cards away.. I literally stood over the trash can and was trying to talk myself into it.. UGH!!!  Suddenly.. I remembered an idea.. GIFT TAGS!  so I took those cards and took 20 minutes and cut myself some gift tags.. beautiful ones.. now I couldn't use every one because some people had written on both sides but I could use a lot of them and I am so happy how they turned out.. it made it easier somehow to throw them away.. don't know why.. it just did. And guess what? they got re-utilized!!!
And now on to the National Geos.. in going through the garage to organize the Christmas decorations.. I came across a whole plastic container of those magazines.  All from the 50's 60's (most of them) and 70's.  Oh my gosh.. they are amazing.. the photographs are incredible.. especially when we know it was ALLLLLLL film.  And the stories - wow- there was one on Afghanistan and it makes me sad that things are soooo completely different there now.. There is another one I looked at the marks the opening of the Key Largo undersea park  (picture in collage).  How amazing.. I have been debating about whether to get rid of them or save them.. not sure yet what I am going to do but for now.. I am just going to enjoy them.
Anyway.. be looking for my next post.. coming in a week or so..  hopefully a video..  :) talk soon!

  1. LOL...I save my Christmas cards too. Normally because they are so pretty and reminds me of the people that I miss so much. This year was no different. I added them to my growing pile, but with new intentions. Arts and Crafts for the kids come next season!! Great minds think alike!! Love the mags too. If you do decide to part with them let me know.
