my pet life installment two!

Hey Everyone.. I have a couple of photos to share with you this morning of my crazy pet life but before we get to that I want to tell you what happened yesterday.
So my husband Jim and I were out trimming trees to get them off the road over hang since they keep getting creamed by trucks going through.  As we are wrapping up I see out of the corner of my eye a movement..
I look down and lo and behold there is this gorgeous pit bull literally standing at my backside.. I mean RIGHT there!  Okay I am a pet person from way back and I still do pet sittings and such but the idea of ANY strange dog standing right behind me was a bit unnerving.. so I did do a little shout which only made him do his "oh we're going to play"  stance.  You know butt in the air.. tail wagging head to the ground with that cute grin all dogs get when they are ready to play.  So he comes over we make nice .. I am still guarded.. remember strange dog from out of NOWHERE.  So I think it's one of my neighbor's dog from around the corner.  Their dog has gotten out several times.. I have saved smaller dogs from him so I am not too happy thinking it got out again.  I tell Jim (my husband).. I'll be right back.. let me take him back and off I go.. so on my way over there .. I start assessing this guy.  Wait.. he is a bit darker then the other one.  Wait.. he is a bit younger then the other one.  Wait.. he is sweeter then the other one.. WAIT!  This isn't their dog!  GREAT...
I enlist other neighbors to see if they know of this dog.. no one knows. We hang out in the yard hoping someone comes by frantically looking for their dog.  I didn't really see that happening or have a good feeling about it since this isn't the first pitbull I have rescued. And since there are no tags and he ate and drank like he hadn't eaten for a while. I am torn about what to do.  But this dog is NOW my responsibility.  He was sent to me because I believe in being a guardian of all living things.  I am stressed though because  1.) i have no clue what he is capable of.  2) i can not bring him in my house around my dogs and cats.  3) i can not just let him go.   UGH
What to do..   Then I remember wait a minute I have friends who have lots of pet connections... I need some help.  So I call one person she says "give me 20 minutes I will make calls and call you back."    She calls back!  yeah!  she is waiting to hear from people.  We take him to Petsmart to have him scanned to see if he has a microchip.. NOPE!  Not that I really thought he would.. no tags.. please- microchip was really reaching.
long story shorter.. people were contacted .. he is on his way to a reunion or a new home.  I am kind of hoping for a new home.  We got him out of the truck he gave me that look.. I gave my husband that look and I could see my husband was fading and ready to give in.. but I got a hold of myself and reminded myself that even though pitbulls get a bad rap.. they are not always treated so great and so we have no idea what he could do to our dogs our cats.. etc.  So reluctantly and with a tear in my eye I let him go and I will be getting updates this week on his journey.  He really was a good boy.. he will be a great dog for someone worthy.

So back to my crew.. the first photo is what I see constantly when I am at my desk.. this is knickie.. (renamed Mickey by preslie) pawing at me as I try to work on my computer.

this one is Pirate.. (the newest one found alongside the road while I was driving when he was about 10 weeks old) looking out the sunroom to the lanai.. mad because it is too cold to open the door.
After I took his photo he leaned down and looked me as if to say: "mind your own business"
Anyway.. I have strict orders to only look straight ahead when I drive... or walk now..  RIGHT like that is going to happen..  :)
